Tips and Advice: Hair Conditioner

1. Using moisturizing products but hair still looks dry It is true that too much of a good thing is not good, especially in hair care. When you find your hair to be looking and feeling dry even though you´ve been using moisturizing shampoos and conditioners, switch off every other day and use a protein based shampoo and conditioner. This will balance out the moisture and give the hair more strength and health.

2. Conditioner application Apply conditioner to the ends and midsection of your hair. You could have oily hair from using conditioner on your roots. It weighs your hair down, causing it to produce more oil and be flat.

3. Frizz I used to have the problem with frizzy hair. If you have this problem, try using a "leave in" conditioner. This really works! There are quite a few to choose from even though they are basically all the same. Believe me,I have tried all of them. If you want to, you can try different ones, and depending on your hair, they might differ. This is a good tip if your hair is naturally frizzy. Be sure though, that you rinse or shampoo the product out each day and reapply it sparingly.

4. A good conditioner in your fridge We have all heard the tip about conditioning with mayonnaise. This is true if you use REAL mayonnaise. It is rich in oils and eggs, which are a good source of fatty acids. The fact is it contains lemon juice, and is pH balanced, so it will keep your hair in its natural pH level. Here is how to do it: after shampooing the hair, rinse well and towel dry well. Add about two tablespoons of mayonnaise and gently work it through your hair and then comb through with a wide toothed comb. Next, put a plastic cap or some plastic wrap on your head and allow the heat of your body to warm it up. If you want you can apply a warm towel, but not too hot, and sit back and relax. After thirty to forty minutes rinse the hair again and shampoo with a conditioning shampoo. This will take the residue off the surface of the hair, but allow the good nutrients to remain within the outer layer of the hair. Always rinse the hair after with a cool water rinse. Style as usual and you will have shiny, silky hair.

5. Leave-in conditioners For those people who need some extra control, have extremely dry or fly-away hair, or have extremely thick hair that tends to proof up after you dry it, leave-in conditioners are really good. They are light weight so they do not make your hair greasy and they rinse out easily when you do your next shampoo. Some really good ones are Influx 33, Infusium 23, and Aura´s Cherry Bark Leave-In Conditioner. Most cities have a beauty supply store or a big store like Wallmart or KMart that has professional products. You will find them there and they will not break your budget.
